BALNEARIO – 08 NOVEMBER 2017 – TRAVEL DIARY

Three beaches, three cats!

Today is another phenomenal day! We woke up on the beach. It was the first night spent on the beach of a little village in Southern Brazil.

We enjoyed a magnificent sunrise, waking up very early, agitated in our sleep, as if called by the sounds of the ocean.

It was raining slowly outside but that didn’t prevent us from drinking our coffee smiling on the high beach of do Tabuleiro (meaning “tray”, I don’t know the reason why) from Barra Velha village.

Kids were also restless and jumped out of bed, Aris being the most excited. After only 2 minutes he jumped all dressed in the water. Ana followed him.

As kids are all different, a kind of combinations of 2 out of 3, in our case, based on their reactions, Carla comments: “don’t they realize that there is no place for a shower and they are going to have sand and salt all over them?”.

No, they don’t and it’s better this way!

When their toes started looking like raisins they got out of the water and we followed them.

A few meters away a guy on a motorcycle stops and opens the lock of a former church. Aris asks if he can take a shower. The motorcycle guy is as startled as we are. He explained that the church is now a barrack for workers, there is no luxury, but there is warm water and Aris didn’t need more than this. We say thank you and we hit the road.

First stop is Estatua de Pescador, we stay a little bit, but it starts raining so off we go again.

We stop at a vet, Oscar has been infected with Berny worms (a type of worms that grow under the skin, I’ll spare you of the details), the vet checks him and says the dog is recovering so we leave.

We stop at Saudade beach where the time has stopped. Nice little houses right on the beach, not a human on the beach, a sign that it’s not high season yet. Carla says that if there is a heaven, this is how she imagines it, she feels inspired here so she started writing a book with birds and magic.

Ana and Aris are in the water again, they like it so much they don’t feel the cold, their lips turn purple, but it’s difficult to convince them to get out of the water! We eat on the beach and leave for Orange trees Beach (Laranjereira) aiming to catch there the sunset.

Lollipop huffs and puffs. Night comes, we are still in the road. All of a sudden Ana screams: “Mommy, the cat is giving birth!”

We stop in an instant, we prepared for a long night, I am as thrilled as when I had my own kids and that is a little strange!

As it’s St Mihail and Gavril in the Orthodox church and there are 3 name celebrations in our family, we get as a present from Becka 3 healthy kitten to all the family’s joy!

And now we are 10! 🙂

Trei plaje, trei pisici!

Numai dupa 2 minute, sare imbracat in apa.

Ne trezim pe plaja Saudade unde timpul s-a oprit in loc.

Ana cu Aris intra iar in apa e atat de frumos ca nu simt frigul, buzele devin vinete purpurii dar nu-i chip sa-i scoatem la mal!

Mancam pe plaja si plecam catre Plaja Portocalilor (Laranjeira), cu gand sa prindem apusul. Lollipop gafaie scoate fum.

Mihail si Gavril in cultura crestin ortodoxa, si noi suntem 3 sarbatoriti, Becka ne serbeaza cu trei pisoi sanatosi spre bucuria familiei!

Na ca suntem 10! 🙂
